Principle of the Assay||The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to AQP-9. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated polyclonal antibody preparation specific forAQP-9 and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain AQP-9, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of AQP-9 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the aquaglyceroporin subfamily of aquaporins. This protein transports water, glycerol, urea, purines and pyrimidines and plays a role in glycerol metabolism and osteoclast differentiation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2012]
Uniprot Description
AQP9: Forms a channel with a broad specificity. Mediates passage of a wide variety of non-charged solutes including carbamides, polyols, purines, and pyrimidines in a phloretin- and mercury-sensitive manner, whereas amino acids, cyclic sugars, Na(+), K(+), Cl(-), and deprotonated monocarboxylates are excluded. Also permeable to urea and glycerol. Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.

Product Notes
The Mouse Aqp9 aqp9 (Catalog #AAA2886907) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2886907 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse Aqp9. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aquaporin-9, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
