Applications
Dot Blot, Western Blot
Synonyms
GABAA Receptor beta2; Anti-GABAA Receptor; beta2-Subunit; anti-GABRB2 antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Form/Format
100ul in 10mM HEPES (pH 7.5), 150mM NaCl, 100ug per ml BSA and 50% glycerol. Adequate amount of material to conduct 10-mini Western blots.
Applicable Applications for anti-GABRB2 antibody
Dot Blots (DB), Western Blots (WB)
Application Notes
DB: 1:1000
WB: 1:1000
Antibody Specificity
Specific for the ~50k to 56k Beta2-subunit of the GABAA-R in Western blots of rat brain memebrane fractions. Also recognizes the Beta2subunit of the GABAA-R in bovine, human and mouse brain extracts.
Preparation and Storage
Ships on blue ice. For long term storage -80°C is recommended, but shorter term storage at -20°C is also acceptable as aliquots may be taken without freeze/thawing due to the presence of 50% glycerol. Stock solutions are stable for a minimum of 1 year at -20°C.

NCBI Description

subunit of GABA-A receptors, which induce inhibitory postsynaptic currents; mediates desentization [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Function: GABA, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate brain, mediates neuronal inhibition by binding to the GABA/benzodiazepine receptor and opening an integral chloride channel.

Subunit structure: Generally pentameric. There are five types of GABA(A) receptor chains: alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and rho. Binds UBQLN1. Interacts with KCTD8, KCTD12 and KCTD16; this interaction determines the pharmacology and kinetics of the receptor response, the KCTD proteins markedly accelerating the GABA-B response, although to different extents. Ref.3 Ref.4

Subcellular location: Cell junction › synapse › postsynaptic cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor (TC 1.A.9.5) subfamily. GABRB2 sub-subfamily. [View classification]

Product Notes

The GABRB2 gabrb2 (Catalog #AAA502051) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's GABAA Receptor beta2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Dot Blots (DB), Western Blots (WB). DB: 1:1000 WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GABRB2 gabrb2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GABAA Receptor beta2, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
