Principle of the assay: mouse CD6 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from rat specific for CD6 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(NSO, L18-G396) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for CD6 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the mouse CD6 amount of sample captured in plate.
Background: CD6(Cluster of Differentiation 6) is a human protein encoded by the CD6 gene. It is mapped to 11q12.2. CD6 is expressed predominantly in peripheral T cells and mature medullary thymocytes. This gene encodes a protein found on the outer membrane of T-lymphocytes as well as some other immune cells. The encoded protein contains three scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domains and a binding site for an activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule. The gene product is important for continuation of T cell activation. What's more, this gene may be associated with susceptibility to multiple sclerosis.

Uniprot Description

CD6: a type I membrane protein involved in cell adhesion. Binds to CD166. Expressed on thymocytes, peripheral T cells, a subset of B cells, and a subset of neurons. Mediates the binding of developing thymocytes with thymic epithelial cells. CD6- T cells are less autoreactive than CD6+ T cells. Phosphorylated on tyrosines and serines following T cell antigen receptor signaling. Five splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell surface

Cellular Component: membrane; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; glycoprotein binding; protein kinase binding; scavenger receptor activity

Biological Process: positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; cell adhesion

Product Notes

The Mouse CD6 cd6 (Catalog #AAA177177) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA177177 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse CD6. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD6, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
