NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of a family of neuronal cell surface proteins. Members of this family may act as splice site-specific ligands for beta-neurexins and may be involved in the formation and remodeling of central nervous system synapses. [provided by RefSeq]
Uniprot Description
NLGN2: Transmembrane scaffolding protein involved in cell-cell interactions via its interactions with neurexin family members. Mediates cell-cell interactions both in neurons and in other types of cells, such as Langerhans beta cells. Plays a role in synapse function and synaptic signal transmission, especially via gamma- aminobutyric acid receptors (GABA(A) receptors). Functions by recruiting and clustering synaptic proteins. Promotes clustering of postsynaptic GABRG2 and GPHN. Modulates signaling by inhibitory synapses, and thereby plays a role in controlling the ratio of signaling by excitatory and inhibitory synapses and information processing. Required for normal signal amplitude from inhibitory synapses, but is not essential for normal signal frequency. May promote the initial formation of synapses, but is not essential for this. In vitro, triggers the de novo formation of presynaptic structures. Mediates cell-cell interactions between Langerhans beta cells and modulates insulin secretion. Belongs to the type-B carboxylesterase/lipase family.

Product Notes
The NLGN2 nlgn2 (Catalog #AAA622847) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Neuroligin 2 (NLGN2, KIAA1366) reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Neuroligin 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Dilution: ELISA: 0.5-1.0ug/ml Western Blot: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NLGN2 nlgn2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neuroligin 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
