STXBP1 (Syntaxin-binding protein 1; also p67, Munc18-1, N-Sec1 and Unc18A) is a 67kD member of the SNARE-interacting Sec1/Unc18/STXBP family of proteins. It is expressed in a variety of cells, presumably in those that exhibit granule exocytosis, and likely participates in (synaptic) granule release. Ligands for STXBP1 include STX1A, 2 and 3, and it is possible that STXBP1 both suppresses STX activity, and serves as an anchor for STX-mediated vesicle fusion. Human STXBP1 is 594aa in length.
