NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
PEA15 is a death effector domain (DED)-containing protein predominantly expressed in the central nervous system, particularly in astrocytes.[supplied by OMIM]
Uniprot Description
PEA-15: an ubiquitously expressed anti-apoptotic protein. Inhibits both Fas- and Tnfrsf1a/Tnfr1-mediated caspase-8 activity and apoptosis. Interacts with CASP8/FLICE and FADD. Regulates glucose transport by controlling both the content of GLUT1 glucose transporters on the plasma membrane and the insulin-dependent trafficking of GLUT4 from the cell interior to the surface. Most abundant in tissues such as heart, brain, muscle and adipose tissue which utilize glucose as an energy source. Lower expression in glucose-producing tissues. Higher levels of expression are found in tissues from individuals with type 2 diabetes than in controls.
Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Apoptosis
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21.1
Cellular Component: microtubule associated complex; cytoplasm
Molecular Function: protein binding
Biological Process: negative regulation of glucose import; transport; apoptosis; DNA damage checkpoint; carbohydrate transport; response to morphine
Research Articles on PEA15
2. Results suggest that PEA-15 expression is likely to be associated with the tumorigenesis of alignant pleural mesothelioma.
3. Strategies are being devised to target key signaling events in PED/PEA-15 action aimed at improving glucose tolerance and at facilitating cancer cell death.
4. transfection with PED siRNA, but not with cFLIP siRNA, sensitized NSCLC cells to TRAIL-induced cell death
5. PTEN influences Fas signaling, at least in part, by regulating PEA-15 phosphorylation and activity that, in turn, regulate the ability of Bcl-2 to suppress Fas-induced apoptosis.
6. COUP-TFII antagonizes the repression of the PED/PEA-15 gene by HNF-4alpha.
7. PEA-15 expression is an important prognostic marker in ovarian cancer.
8. Elevated PEA-15 levels provide a survival advantage for glioblastoma cells confronted with a poor microenvironment and low glucose levels.
9. PEA-15 functions as a scaffold to enhance extracellular signal-regulated MAP kinase (ERK) activation of ribosomal S6 kinase polypeptide RSK2, an activity that is regulated by phosphorylation.
10. In addition to sequestering protein kinases ERK1/2 in the cytoplasm, PEA-15 has the potential to modulate the activity of ERK2 in cells by competing directly with proteins that contain D-recruitment sites.

Product Notes
The PEA15 pea15 (Catalog #AAA622921) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PEA-15 (phosphoprotein enriched in astrocytes 15 Astrocytic phosphoprotein PEA-15, HMAT1, HUMMAT1H, MAT1, MAT1H, PED, Phosphoprotein enriched in diabetes) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PEA-15 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Dilution: ELISA: 0.5-1.0ug/ml Western Blot: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PEA15 pea15 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PEA-15, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
