Related Product Information for PGM assay kit
Product Information: Phosphoglucomutase (PGM) Activity Assay Kit: Rapid & Sensitive assay to detect PGM activity in tissues, cells & plasma. 100 wells. Detection limit: even less than 1 mU/reaction.

Background: Phosphoglucomutase (PGM) plays a key role in carbohydrate metabolism and widely exists in all organisms. PGM interconverts Glucose-1-Phosphate (G1P) and Glucose-6-Phosphate (G6P) depending on the body requirement. When glycogen breaks down, G1P is generated and phosphoglucomutase converts G1P to G6P, which can go either to glycolytic pathway to generate ATP, or to pentose phosphate pathway to generate ribose and NADPH. On the other hand, when cells have extra energy, PGM converts G6P to G1P, which generates glycogen. In humans, phosphoglucomutase have 2 isoforms (PGM I and PGM II). PGM deficiency leads to glucose storage disease. Detection of abnormal phosphoglucomutase activity is crucial for identification, prediction and treatment of the disease. In MyBioSource's phosphoglucomutase assay, PGM converts glucose-1-phosphate to glucose-6-phosphate; the glucose-6-phosphate is oxidized by glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase to form NADH, which reduces a colorless probe to a colored product with strong absorbance at 450 nm. The Phosphoglucomutase Assay Kit is simple, sensitive and rapid and can detect PGM activity even less than 1 mU/reaction.

Summary: Detection method- Absorbance (450 nm)
Species reactivity- Mammalian
Application- The kit can detect phosphoglucomutase activity even less than 1 mU/reaction.

Product Notes

The PGM pgmp (Catalog #AAA841485) is an Assay Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phosphoglucomutase, Assay Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
