Rabbit Stargazin Polyclonal Antibody | anti-CACNG2 antibody
Anti-Stargazin
Species Reactivity: Mouse
Species Reactivity: Mouse
Biological Significance: Stargazin is a member of the transmembrane AMPAR regulatory proteins (TARP) family and is involved in glutamate receptor trafficking. It has been recently demonstrated (Tomita et al., 2005; Priel et al., 2005) that the interaction between stargazin and AMPA receptors is critical for the correct localization of the receptors at the synapse. Phosphorylation of the stargazin protein at Thr 321 by Protein Kinase A regulates its interaction with PSD-95 and synaptic targeting of AMPA receptors (Choi et al., 2002).

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Function: Regulates the trafficking and gating properties of AMPA-selective glutamate receptors (AMPARs). Promotes their targeting to the cell membrane and synapses and modulates their gating properties by slowing their rates of activation, deactivation and desensitization. Does not show subunit-specific AMPA receptor regulation and regulates all AMPAR subunits. Thought to stabilize the calcium channel in an inactivated (closed) state
By similarity.
Subunit structure: The L-type calcium channel is composed of five subunits: alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta and gamma. Interacts with the PDZ domains of DLG4/PSD-95 and DLG1/SAP97. May interact with GOPC. Acts as an auxiliary subunit for AMPA-selective glutamate receptors (AMPARs). Found in a complex with GRIA1, GRIA2, GRIA3, GRIA4, CNIH2, CNIH3, CACNG3, CACNG4, CACNG5, CACNG7 and CACNG8. Interacts with GRIA1
By similarity. Ref.2 Ref.3
Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Tissue specificity: Brain.
Post-translational modification: Phosphorylation of Thr-321 by PKA impairs interaction with DLG1 and DLG4.
Involvement in disease: Defects in Cacng2 cause the stargazer (stg) phenotype. Stg mice have spike-wave seizures characteristic of absence epilepsy, with accompanying defects in the cerebellum and inner ear.
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the PMP-22/EMP/MP20 family. CACNG subfamily.

Product Notes
The CACNG2 cacng2 (Catalog #AAA502114) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Stargazin reacts with Species Tested: Rat Species Reactivity: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Stargazin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CACNG2 cacng2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Stargazin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
