Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
Quality Control: Western blots performed on each lot.
WB: 1:1000
Antigen
Peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region of rat Synaptophysin 2, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH).
Immunogen Information
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region conjugated to KLH
Immunogen Species
Rat
Reactivity Assumed Based on 100% Sequence Homology
Mouse
Species Reactivity Note
The antibody has been demonstrated to work in rat. It is anticipated that the antibody will work in mouse based on the fact that this species has 100% homology with the amino acid sequence used as antigen.
Biological Significance
Synaptophysin 2, also known as Synaptoporin, is a component of the synaptic vesicle membrane and thought to play an important role in synaptic vesicle trafficking (Dai et al., 2003). It is highly homologous to Synaptophysin 1, yet differs in expression. Whereas Synaptophysin 1 is ubiquitiously expressed, Synaptophysin 2 is concentrated in the mossy fiber synapses of the hippocampus (Grabs et al., 1994; Singec et al., 2002).
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C; stable for at least one year.

Product Notes

The SYNPR synpr (Catalog #AAA502121) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Synaptophysin 2 reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's synaptophysin 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Quality Control: Western blots performed on each lot. WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SYNPR synpr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "synaptophysin 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
