Related Product Information for anti-PCDH12 antibody
Protocadherins comprise the largest group within the cadherin family of calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecules. Protocadherin 12 (PCDH12) was initially identified through PCR screening of mouse heart microvascular endothelial cell RNA; further experiments revealed its mRNA to be strongly expressed in highly vascularized organs such as lung and kidney, in addition to glycogen-rich trophoblasts in the placenta. PCDH12-null mice are viable and fertile, but show reduced placental and embryonic sizes when compared to wild-type mice. Further studies showed significant expression changes in 2, 289 genes, including those involved in tissue morphogenesis, angiogenesis, cell-matrix adhesion and migration, immune response and chromatin remodeling.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the protocadherin gene family, a subfamily of the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein consists of an extracellular domain containing 6 cadherin repeats, a transmembrane domain and a cytoplasmic tail that differs from those of the classical cadherins. The gene localizes to the region on chromosome 5 where the protocadherin gene clusters reside. The exon organization of this transcript is similar to that of the gene cluster transcripts, notably the first large exon, but no significant sequence homology exists. The function of this cellular adhesion protein is undetermined but mouse protocadherin 12 does not bind catenins and appears to have no affect on cell migration or growth. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PCDH12: Cellular adhesion molecule that may play an important role in cell-cell interactions at interendothelial junctions. Promotes homotypic calcium-dependent aggregation and adhesion and clusters at intercellular junctions. Unable to bind to catenins, weakly associates with the cytoskeleton.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; intercellular junction

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding

Product Notes

The PCDH12 pcdh12 (Catalog #AAA9401641) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PCDH12 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PCDH12 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PCDH12 pcdh12 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PCDH12, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
