This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody against PCDH12. It was validated on Western Blot using a cell lysate as a positive control.

Target Description: PCDH12 belongs to the protocadherin protein family, a subfamily of the cadherin superfamily. It consists of an extracellular domain containing 6 cadherin repeats, a transmembrane domain and a cytoplasmic tail that differs from those of the classical cadherins. The function of this cellular adhesion protein is undetermined but mouse protocadherin 12 does not bind catenins and appears to have no affect on cell migration or growth. This gene belongs to the protocadherin gene family, a subfamily of the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein consists of an extracellular domain containing 6 cadherin repeats, a transmembrane domain and a cytoplasmic tail that differs from those of the classical cadherins. The gene localizes to the region on chromosome 5 where the protocadherin gene clusters reside. The exon organization of this transcript is similar to that of the gene cluster transcripts, notably the first large exon, but no significant sequence homology exists. Uniprot Description

PCDH12: Cellular adhesion molecule that may play an important role in cell-cell interactions at interendothelial junctions. Promotes homotypic calcium-dependent aggregation and adhesion and clusters at intercellular junctions. Unable to bind to catenins, weakly associates with the cytoskeleton.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; intercellular junction

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding

Product Notes

The PCDH12 pcdh12 (Catalog #AAA3208502) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PCDH12 antibody - middle region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Pig, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PCDH12 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PCDH12 pcdh12 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: SSRPFLLTTI VARDADSGAN GEPLYSIRSG NEAHLFILNP HTGQLFVNVT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PCDH12, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
