Testing Data
(HTRF Assay for Recombinant BRD1 (556-688) activity. 3.3 uM histone peptide H4K5/8/12/16 (4Ac) was incubated with BRD1 (556-688) protein in reaction buffer including 50 mM HEPES-NaOH pH 7.0, 0.1% BSA for 1 hour at room temperature. Anti-DYKDDDDK antibody was used to detect reaction products.)
Background: Bromodomain-containing protein 1 (BRD1) belongs to the BET subclass of proteins, which are characterized by two N-terminal bromodomains and one ET (Extra Terminal) domain. BRDs associate with chromatin through their bromodomains that recognize acetylated histone lysine residues. Bromodomains function as 'readers' of these epigenetic histone marks and regulate chromatin structure and gene expression by linking associated proteins to the acetylated nucleosomal targets. The ET domain functions as a protein binding motif and exerts atypical serine-kinase activity. The BET family consists of several members that function in the regulation of transcriptional activation and chromatin remodeling.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a bromodomain-containing protein that localizes to the nucleus and can interact with DNA and histone tails. The encoded protein is a component of the MOZ/MORF acetyltransferase complex and can stimulate acetylation of histones H3 and H4, thereby potentially playing a role in gene activation. Variation in this gene is associated with schozophrenia and bipolar disorder in some study populations. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2015]

Product Notes
The BRD1 (Catalog #AAA388152) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BRD1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
