Related Product Information for BRD1 recombinant protein
Background: The acetylation of histone lysine residues plays a crucial role in the epigenetic regulation of gene transcription. A bromodomain is a protein domain that recognizes acetylated lysine residues such as those on the N-terminal tails of histones. This recognition is often a prerequisite for protein-histone association and chromatin remodeling. These domains function in the linking of protein complexes to acetylated nucleosomes, thereby controlling chromatin structure and gene expression. Thus, bromodomains serve as "readers" of histone acetylation marks regulating the transcription of target promoters. BRD1 is a bromodomain containing protein that has been identified as a susceptibility gene in neurological disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. This protein can be used for the study of bromodomain binding assays, screening inhibitors, and selectivity profiling. Recombinant human BRD1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a bromodomain-containing protein that localizes to the nucleus and can interact with DNA and histone tails. The encoded protein is a component of the MOZ/MORF acetyltransferase complex and can stimulate acetylation of histones H3 and H4, thereby potentially playing a role in gene activation. Variation in this gene is associated with schozophrenia and bipolar disorder in some study populations. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2015]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The BRD1 brd1 (Catalog #AAA844547) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 556-688. AAA Biotech's BRD1 bromodomain can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BRD1 brd1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MGSEQVAMEL RLTPLTVLLR SVLDQLQDKD PARIFAQPVS LKEVPDYLDH IKHPMDFATM RKRLEAQGYK NLHEFEEDFD LIIDNCMKYN ARDTVFYRAA VRLRDQGGVV LRQARREVDS IGLEEASGMH LPERPA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BRD1 bromodomain, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
