EBV antigen p138 (Mumtsidu et al., 2008).
Organism
EBV
Tag
HIS
Molecular Weight Information
Determined by SDS-PAGE, the protein band is between molecular markers of 66,200-116,000 Da, while relative molecular mass calculated from amino acid sequence is 129,700.0 Da.
Suggested Titer by ELISA
approx. 1:3250, which corresponds to 0.49ug/ml of protein concentration in plates for IgG detection.
Observation Notes
Proteins should be maintained frozen at high concentrations. The dilution to be performed for ELISA assays should be made with a small quantity of protein, the same day of the experiment. In order to defrost the protein, maintain the aliquot at 25 degree C without shaking to avoid aggregation. Prior making test dilutions and after defrost the protein, is recommended to remove possible protein aggregates by centrifuging the stock solution, avoiding alterations in the immobilization of the biomolecule to the solid surface.
Buffer
20 mM phosphate buffer pH 8, 1 M NaCl, 0.1% polyoxyethylene (10) tridecyl ether and 6 M urea
Batch Composition
Recombinant antigen with a his-tag in its N-terminus
Storage Buffer
20 mM phosphate buffer pH 8, 1 M NaCl, 0.1% polyoxyethylene (10) tridecyl ether and 6 M urea
Reconstitution
For lyophilized proteins: with 0.04 ml of sterile double-distilled water (lot specific) for a final concentration of 1.59 mg/ml (lot specific). The protein will be at pH 8.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized protein is shipped with on ice packs. Upon arrival, it should be stored at 20 degree C to -80 degree C. Aliquot after reconstitution in order to avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles and store at 20 degree C to -80 degree C.

Uniprot Description

Function: Plays a role in virus genomic DNA replication associated with the viral DNA polymerase complex. Destabilizes double-stranded DNA in an ATP independent manner. May disrupt loops, hairpins and other secondary structures present on ssDNA by binding directly to it, thereby reducing and eliminating pausing of the viral DNA polymerase at specific sites. May participate in the opening of the lytic phase origin (ori-Lyt) region of the viral DNA to initiate viral replication. Ref.2

Subunit structure: Forms a complex with the DNA polymerase BALF5, the DNA polymerase processivity factor BMRF1, and the alkaline exonuclease BGLF5.

Subcellular location: Virion tegument. Host nucleus. Note: the protein is present at discrete sites in nuclei, called replication compartments where viral DNA replication occurs. Ref.4 Ref.5

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the herpesviridae DNA-binding protein family.

Product Notes

The BALF2 (Catalog #AAA505010) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's BALF2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Recommended concentration in ELISA plates: 2 ug/ml in plates for IgM detection. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BALF2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BALF2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
