Background: Collagenase (EC 3.4.24.3) is an enzyme in the matrix metalloproteinase family that breaks down collagen, assisting in degradation of the extracellular matrix, a key step in the pathogenesis of bacteria. Collagen is an abundant structural protein present in the connective tissue of animals. Collagenase has been used clinically for the treatment of Dupuytren's contracture, an affliction characterized by a thickening of connective tissue. MyBioSource's Collagenase Activity Assay Kit provides a quick and easy way to determine activity of Collagenase. The Kit measures collagenase activity using a synthetic peptide (FALGPA) that mimics collagen's structure. It is suitable for measuring activity of bacterial collagenases such as from Clostridium histolyticum type I-XI. In addition, it can also be used to screen/characterize collagenase inhibitors. The limit of detection for this assay is 0.02 mU Collagenase.

Product Notes
The Bacterial Collagenase fpb0191_00833 (Catalog #AAA841866) is an Assay Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA841866 Assay Kit recognizes Bacterial Collagenase. Measurement of collagenase activity For screening/studying/characterizing collagenase inhibitors. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Collagenase fpb0191_00833 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Collagenase, Assay Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
