Uniprot Description

Function: Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha chain.

Subunit structure: Dimer of alpha and beta chains.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton.

Post-translational modification: Undergoes a tyrosination/detyrosination cycle, the cyclic removal and re-addition of a C-terminal tyrosine residue by the enzymes tubulin tyrosine carboxypeptidase (TTCP) and tubulin tyrosine ligase (TTL), respectively

By similarity.Acetylation of alpha chains at Lys-40 stabilizes microtubules and affects affinity and processivity of microtubule motors. This modification has a role in multiple cellular functions, ranging from cell motility, cell cycle progression or cell differentiation to intracellular trafficking and signaling

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the tubulin family.

Product Notes

The Tubulin, alpha tuba (Catalog #AAA637918) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Tubulin, alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Tubulin, alpha tuba for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tubulin, alpha, Monoclonal Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
