NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. Members of the PTP family share a highly conserved catalytic motif, which is essential for the catalytic activity. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. Epidermal growth factor receptor and the adaptor protein Shc were reported to be substrates of this PTP, which suggested the roles in growth factor mediated cell signaling. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found. Two highly related but distinctly processed pseudogenes that localize to chromosomes 1 and 13, respectively, have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]
Uniprot Description
PTPN2: a type 2 non-receptor phospho-tyrosine-protein phosphatase (PTP). Two alternatively spliced isoforms are differenyially expressed. Isoform A is a major PTP expressed in human tissues, while isoform B is expressed mainly in T-cells and in placenta.

Product Notes
The PTPN2 ptpn2 (Catalog #AAA8103243) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-TCPTP Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TCPTP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:500-1:1000 ELISA: 1:25,000-1:50,000 IP: 1-2uL/mg of lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PTPN2 ptpn2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TCPTP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
