NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the neuromedin family of neuropeptides. The encoded protein is a precursor that is proteolytically processed to generate a biologically active neuropeptide that plays a role in satiety, reproduction and thermoregulation, as well as in stress, fear and other behavioral responses. This gene encodes distinct isoforms, some or all of which may undergo similar processing to generate the mature protein. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]
Uniprot Description
NMB: Stimulates smooth muscle contraction in a manner similar to that of bombesin. Belongs to the bombesin/neuromedin-B/ranatensin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7|7 D3
Cellular Component: extracellular region; neuron projection
Molecular Function: neuromedin B receptor binding
Biological Process: arachidonic acid secretion; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; glucose homeostasis; negative regulation of hormone secretion; neuropeptide signaling pathway; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of hormone secretion

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neuromedin B (NMB), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
