Biological Significance
This gamma enolase is a glycolytic enzyme present in brain and neuroendocrine tissue. It is a dimer with subunits of molecular weight of 45 kDa. NSE is used to monitor tumour bulk and provides useful information in terms of metastatic activity. It is also used to monitor brain injuries, in conjunction with another brain protein, S100 Beta.

NCBI Description

catalyzes the interconversion of 2-phosphoglycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate; may play a role in glycolysis [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

ENO2: an enzyme with 2-phospho-D-glycerate hydro-lyase activity. One of the three enolase isoenzymes found in mammals. This isoenzyme, a homodimer, is found in mature neurons and cells of neuronal origin. A switch from alpha enolase to gamma enolase occurs in neural tissue during development in rats and primates.

Product Notes

The NSE eno2 (Catalog #AAA537280) is a Native Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's NSE can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NSE eno2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NSE, Native Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
