Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Rat VASPIN concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Rat VASPIN. Standards or samples are added to the micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Rat VASPIN and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Rat VASPIN, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Rat VASPIN. You can calculate the concentration of Rat VASPIN in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

binds integrin very late antigen (VLA4); plays a role in cell adhesion [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

VCAM1: Important in cell-cell recognition. Appears to function in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. Interacts with the beta-1 integrin VLA4 on leukocytes, and mediates both adhesion and signal transduction. The VCAM1/VLA4 interaction may play a pathophysiologic role both in immune responses and in leukocyte emigration to sites of inflammation. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cell adhesion

Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; extracellular space; microvillus; cell surface; endoplasmic reticulum; apical part of cell; early endosome; integral to membrane; podosome; sarcolemma; filopodium; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: integrin binding; amine oxidase activity; cell adhesion molecule binding

Biological Process: response to nicotine; chronic inflammatory response; viral reproduction; heart development; cell-matrix adhesion; response to lipopolysaccharide; heterophilic cell adhesion; leukocyte adhesion; response to ethanol; response to zinc ion; membrane to membrane docking; response to hypoxia; positive regulation of T cell proliferation; response to ionizing radiation; amine metabolic process; cell adhesion; leukocyte tethering or rolling; acute inflammatory response; response to nutrient; aging

Product Notes

The Rat VCAM-1/CD106 vcam1 (Catalog #AAA2502676) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2502676 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat VCAM-1/CD106. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VCAM-1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
