Rat Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: VCAM-1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-VCAM-1 antibody and an VCAM-1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with VCAM-1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the VCAM-1 concentration since VCAM-1 from samples and VCAM-1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-VCAM-1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by VCAM-1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind VCAM-1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The VCAM-1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
binds integrin very late antigen (VLA4); plays a role in cell adhesion [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
VCAM1: Important in cell-cell recognition. Appears to function in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. Interacts with the beta-1 integrin VLA4 on leukocytes, and mediates both adhesion and signal transduction. The VCAM1/VLA4 interaction may play a pathophysiologic role both in immune responses and in leukocyte emigration to sites of inflammation. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The Rat VCAM-1 vcam1 (Catalog #AAA726819) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA726819 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat VCAM-1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
