Related Product Information for TEK active protein
The serine/threonine kinase Akt1 has also been described as Rac-PKa or PKBa. Rac protein kinase family members feature a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain at the amino terminus and a protein-serine/threonine kinase catalytic domain at the carboxy terminus. The PH domain (amino acids 1-106) has been implicated in interactions with other proteins such as G-protein beta gamma subunits, as well as phosphoinositides. The kinase domain is located between residues 148 to 411. These enzymes are activated by diverse ligands such as PGDF, EGF and basic FG in NIH 3T3, Rat-1 or Swiss-3T3 cells. Akt1 is a protein of 480 amino acids and has been observed to show different migratory patterns on a western blot according to the state of phosphorylation of the protein. Phosphatase treatment has been shown to result in inactivation of the protein.

Recombinant full-length human Akt1, containing N-terminal His6 tag. Expressed by baculovirus in Sf21 cells.

NCBI Description

The TEK receptor tyrosine kinase is expressed almost exclusively in endothelial cells in mice, rats, and humans. This receptor possesses a unique extracellular domain containing 2 immunoglobulin-like loops separated by 3 epidermal growth factor-like repeats that are connected to 3 fibronectin type III-like repeats. The ligand for the receptor is angiopoietin-1. Defects in TEK are associated with inherited venous malformations; the TEK signaling pathway appears to be critical for endothelial cell-smooth muscle cell communication in venous morphogenesis. TEK is closely related to the TIE receptor tyrosine kinase. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TIE2: a receptor tyrosine kinase of the Tie family. Receptor for angiopoietin 1. Expressed almost exclusively in endothelial cells. May constitute the earliest mammalian endothelial cell lineage marker. Appears to be critical for endothelial cell-smooth muscle cell communication in venous morphogenesis. TEK is closely related to the TIE receptor tyrosine kinase.

Product Notes

The TEK tek (Catalog #AAA635729) is an Active Protein produced from Recombinant human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Akt1, active, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
