Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Description: This Rat Vascular Endothelial cell Growth Factor C (VEGF-C) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate VEGFC in samples. An antibody specific for VEGFC has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any VEGFC present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for VEGFC is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of VEGFC bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 was originally discovered through the screening of a human placental cDNA library. It is a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) specific for the angiogenic factors VEGF (VEGF-A), PlGF, and VEGF-B. VEGF R1 is expressed in two forms via alternate splicing at the pre-mRNA level: a full-length, membrane bound receptor capable of transducing signal, and a truncated, soluble receptor (sVEGF R1) capable of sequestering ligand or dimerizing with full-length receptor and preventing signal transduction. Although VEGF R1 null mutations are lethal, deletions of the kinase domain are not, suggesting that the soluble form, or at least the extracellular domain, is all that is necessary for normal vascular development.

NCBI Description

platelet-derived growth factor/vascular derived growth factor (PDGF/VEGF); active in angiogenesis and endothelial cell growth [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

VEGFC: Growth factor active in angiogenesis, and endothelial cell growth, stimulating their proliferation and migration and also has effects on the permeability of blood vessels. May function in angiogenesis of the venous and lymphatic vascular systems during embryogenesis, and also in the maintenance of differentiated lymphatic endothelium in adults. Binds and activates VEGFR-2 (KDR/FLK1) and VEGFR-3 (FLT4) receptors. Homodimer; non-covalent and antiparallel. Spleen, lymph node, thymus, appendix, bone marrow, heart, placenta, ovary, skeletal muscle, prostate, testis, colon and small intestine and fetal liver, lung and kidney, but not in peripheral blood lymphocyte. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family.

Product Notes

The Rat VEGF-C vegfc (Catalog #AAA9711609) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9711609 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat VEGF-C. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vascular Endothelial Cell Growth Factor C (VEGF-C), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
