Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rabbit IL-17A antibody. IL-17A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rabbit IL-17A Antibody is added and binds to IL-17A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IL-17A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rabbit IL-17A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that shares sequence similarity with IL17. This cytokine is expressed by activated T cells, and has been shown to stimulate the production of several other cytokines, including IL6, IL8, and CSF2/GM_CSF. This cytokine is also found to inhibit the angiogenesis of endothelial cells and induce endothelial cells to produce IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1. IL17F: Stimulates the production of other cytokines such as IL- 6, IL-8 and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and can regulate cartilage matrix turnover. Stimulates PBMC and T-cell proliferation. Inhibits angiogenesis. Defects in IL17F are the cause of familial candidiasis type 6 (CANDF6). CANDF6 is a rare disorder with altered immune responses and impaired clearance of fungal infections, selective against Candida. It is characterized by persistent and/or recurrent infections of the skin, nails and mucous membranes caused by organisms of the genus Candida, mainly Candida albicans. Belongs to the IL-17 family.
