Related Product Information for anti-KIAA0226 antibody
Two Beclin-1-interacting proteins, the run domain Beclin-1 interacting and cysteine-rich containing protein (Rubicon) and ATG14L, reciprocally regulate autophagy at different stages. Knockdown of Rubicon caused enhancement of autophagy while that of ATG14L caused a defect in autophagosome formation (1). Rubicon functions as part of a Beclin-1-PIK3C3-containing autophagy complex and is also an essential, positive regulator of the NAPDH oxidase complex (2). Upon microbial infection or TLR2 activation, Rubicon interacts with the CYBA subunit of the NAPDH oxidase complex, leading to a burst of reactive oxygen species and inflammatory cytokines (2).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a negative regulator of autophagy and endocytic trafficking and controls endosome maturation. This protein contains two conserved domains, an N-terminal RUN domain and a C-terminal DUF4206 domain. The RUN domain is involved in Ras-like GTPase signaling, and the DUF4206 domain contains a diacylglycerol (DAG) binding-like motif. Mutation in this gene results in deletion of the DAG binding-like motif and causes a recessive ataxia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

Uniprot Description

rubicon: Negatively regulates endocytic trafficking. Impairs the autophagosome maturation process. May inhibit PIK3C3 activity. Forms a complex with BECN1, PIK3C3, PIK3R4 and UVRAG, but not with ATG14. The complex containing ATG14 up-regulates autophagy, while the one containing Rubicon down-regulates autophagy. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Unknown function

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q29

Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; lysosome; late endosome; early endosome

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of autophagy; negative regulation of endocytosis; autophagy; endocytosis

Disease: Spinocerebellar Ataxia, Autosomal Recessive 15

Product Notes

The KIAA0226 kiaa0226 (Catalog #AAA153396) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rubicon Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Rubicon can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-p). Optimal dilutions for each application to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KIAA0226 kiaa0226 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Rubicon, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
