NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The product of this gene belongs to the family of RAS-related proteins. These proteins share approximately 50% amino acid identity with the classical RAS proteins and have numerous structural features in common. The most striking difference between RAP proteins and RAS proteins resides in their 61st amino acid: glutamine in RAS is replaced by threonine in RAP proteins. The product of this gene counteracts the mitogenic function of RAS because it can interact with RAS GAPs and RAF in a competitive manner. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
RAP1A: a small G protein of the Ras family with tumor suppressor activity. Induces morphological reversion of a cell line transformed by a Ras oncogene. Activated by guanine nucleotide-exchange factors (GEF) EPAC and EPAC2 in a cAMP-dependent manner, and GFR. Counteracts the mitogenic function of Ras, at least partly because it can interact with Ras GAPs and RAF in a competitive manner. Interacts with SGSM1, SGSM2 and SGSM3.

Product Notes
The RAP1A rap1a (Catalog #AAA6011878) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RAP1A, CT (RAP1A, KREV1, Ras-related protein Rap-1A, C21KG, G-22K, GTP-binding protein smg p21A, Ras-related protein Krev-1) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RAP1A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RAP1A rap1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RAP1A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
