Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Polymeric immunoglobulin receptor/PIGR detection. Tested with WB, Direct ELISA in Mouse; Rat.

Background: Polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) is a transmembrane protein that in humans is encoded by the PIGR gene. It is mapped to 1 E4; 1 56.89 cM. This gene is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded poly-Ig receptor binds polymeric immunoglobulin molecules at the basolateral surface of epithelial cells; the complex is then transported across the cell to be secreted at the apical surface. A significant association was found between immunoglobulin A nephropathy and several SNPs in this gene.

Uniprot Description

This receptor binds polymeric IgA and IgM at the basolateral surface of epithelial cells. The complex is then transported across the cell to be secreted at the apical surface. During this process a cleavage occurs that separates the extracellular (known as the secretory component) from the transmembrane segment ().

Product Notes

The Pigr pigr (Catalog #AAA1752995) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Polymeric Immunoglobulin Receptor/PIGR Antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Polymeric Immunoglobulin Receptor/PIGR can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Direct ELISA (EIA). WB: 0.25-0.5ug/ml (Mouse, Rat) Direct ELISA: 0.1-0.5ug/ml (Mouse) Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Pigr pigr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Polymeric Immunoglobulin Receptor/PIGR, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
