Related Product Information for anti-MEK1 antibody
MAP kinase kinase (Mek1), also known as mitogen activated protein kinase kinase, MAP kinase kinase, ERK kinase 1 or microtubule-associated protein 2 kinase, is a 43 kD dual-specificity protein kinase that phosphorylates threonine and tyrosine residues on MAP kinases such as Erk 1 and 2 (1). Phosphorylation by Mek1 increases Erksí ability to phosphorylate micrtubule-associated proteins and myelin basic proteins. Mek1 is involved in diverse arrays of cellular processes such as stress-activated response, apoptosis (2), cytokine-induced cell proliferation (3), and DNA recombination during meiosis (4). Mek1 is activated by phosphorylation on serine 218 and 222 by serine-threonine kinase, Raf-1, which is part of the p21ras signal transduction pathway (5).

NCBI Description

Member of MAP Kinase Kinase. Likely functions in a stress-activated MAPK pathway. Can phosphorylate the MAPK AtMPK4, in response to stress. Gets phosphorylated by MEKK1 in response to wounding.

Uniprot Description

Function: May be involved in the cold and salinity stress-mediated MAP kinase signaling cascade (MEKK1, MEK1/MKK2 and MPK4/MPK6). Phosphorylates MPK4 in vitro. Ref.8

Catalytic activity: ATP + a protein = ADP + a phosphoprotein.

Enzyme regulation: Activated through serine and threonine phosphorylation in response to wounding, cold, drought, salt stresses, hydrogen peroxide, bacterial flagellin and laminarin beta-glucan. Ref.10 Ref.12

Subunit structure: Interacts with MEKK1 (MAPKKK) and MPK4. May form a ternary complex with. Ref.7

Tissue specificity: Expressed in roots, stem, flowers and siliques. Ref.1

Induction: By wounding. Ref.1 Ref.10 Ref.12

Post-translational modification: Phosphorylated on Thr-218 and Ser-224, which activates the enzyme. Ref.9 Ref.10

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. STE Ser/Thr protein kinase family. MAP kinase kinase subfamily.Contains 1 protein kinase domain.

Product Notes

The MEK1 mkk1 (Catalog #AAA647196) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mek1, NT (MAPK/ERK Kinase 1, MEK 1, Dual Specificity Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase Kinase 1, MAP Kinase Kinase 1, Map2k1, MAPKK 1, Prkmk1, ERK Activator Kinase 1) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Xenopus and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Mek1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Dilution: Western Blot (Colorimetric): 1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MEK1 mkk1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Mek1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
