Related Product Information for anti-KCNK2 antibody
Function: Ion channel that contributes to passive transmembrane potassium transport (PubMed:23169818). Reversibly converts between a voltage-insensitive potassium leak channel and a voltage-dependent outward rectifying potassium channel in a phosphorylation-dependent manner (PubMed:11319556). In astrocytes, forms mostly heterodimeric potassium channels with KCNK1, with only a minor proportion of functional channels containing homodimeric KCNK2. In astrocytes, the heterodimer formed by KCNK1 and KCNK2 is required for rapid glutamate release in response to activation of G-protein coupled receptors, such as F2R and CNR1 (By similarity).Does not display channel activity but reduces the channel activity of isoform 1 and isoform 2 and reduces cell surface expression of isoform 2.

Post Translational Modifications: Phosphorylation at Ser-348 controls the reversible conversion from a leak channel to a voltage-dependent channel.

Subcellular Location: Cell membrane>Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell membrane>Multi-pass membrane protein. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane>Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue Specificity: Isoform 4 is detected in kidney, adrenal gland and brain where it is preferentially expressed in the amygdala but not found in thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus or substantia nigra.

Subunit Structure: Homodimer; disulfide-linked (Ref.13). Heterodimer with KCNK1; disulfide-linked (By similarity). Interacts with BVES; the interaction enhances KCNK2 surface expression and is inhibited by cAMP (PubMed:26642364).

Similarity: The C-terminal region of isoform 4 mediates its intracellular retention.Belongs to the two pore domain potassium channel (TC 1.A.1.8) family.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of the members of the two-pore-domain background potassium channel protein family. This type of potassium channel is formed by two homodimers that create a channel that leaks potassium out of the cell to control resting membrane potential. The channel can be opened, however, by certain anesthetics, membrane stretching, intracellular acidosis, and heat. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Uniprot Description

Ion channel that contributes to passive transmembrane potassium transport (PubMed:23169818). In astrocytes, forms mostly heterodimeric potassium channels with KCNK1, with only a minor proportion of functional channels containing homodimeric KCNK2. Product Notes

The KCNK2 kcnk2 (Catalog #AAA9612001) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KCNK2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNK2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:50-1:200 ELISA(peptide): 1:20,000-1:40,000 *The optimal dilutions should be determined by the end user. IMPORTANT: For western blot, incubate membrane with diluted primary Abin 5% w/v milk, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween®20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNK2 kcnk2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNK2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
