Specificity
This item detects human heat shock protein 90 alpha (HSP90a), one of two HSP90 isoforms together with HSP90b. These isoforms are encoded by different genes and under normal conditions assist the folding of newly synthesised proteins, and are also important in cellular processes such as hormone signalling and cell cycle control.

In response to mutation or environmental stress, HSP90 expression is upregulated as part of the heat shock response, and function to maintain newly destabilised proteins in a folding competent state. HSP90 can also affect the epigenetic state at specific loci, leading to phenotype modulation.

Induction of HSP90a by c-Myc may control the activity of multiple signal pathways involved in cellular transformation.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is an inducible molecular chaperone that functions as a homodimer. The encoded protein aids in the proper folding of specific target proteins by use of an ATPase activity that is modulated by co-chaperones. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]

Uniprot Description

HSP90A: a molecular chaperone of the heat shock protein 90 family. Has ATPase activity. Known to interact with a wide variety of proteins including steroid hormone receptors, neuropeptide Y, FKBP51/54, and FKBP52. G protein-coupled receptor kinases are stabilized by interacting with HSP 90. Hsp70 and Hsp90 promote tau solubility and tau binding to microtubules, reducing insoluble tau phosphorylation of tau.

AAA Biotech's HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN 90 ALPHA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 90kDa. ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1/5000; Maximum Dilution: 1/25000 Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1/500; Maximum Dilution: 1/2500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HSP90AA1 hsp90aa1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN 90 ALPHA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
