Related Product Information for anti-GABRB1 antibody
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing a hyperpolarization of the membrane through the opening of a Cl- channel associated with the GABAA receptor (GABAA-R) subtype. GABAA-Rs are important therapeutic targets for a range of sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic agents and are implicated in several diseases including epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. The GABAA-R is a multimeric subunit complex. To date six alphas, four betas and four gammas, plus alternative splicing variants of some of these subunits, have been identified (Olsen and Tobin, 1990; Whiting et al., 1999; Ogris et al., 2004). Injection in oocytes or mammalian cell lines of cRNA coding for alpha- and beta-subunits results in the expression of functional GABAA-Rs sensitive to GABA. However, coexpression of a gamma-subunit is required for benzodiazepine modulation. The various effects of the benzodiazepines in brain may also be mediated via different alpha- subunits of the receptor (McKernan et al., 2000; Mehta and Ticku, 1998; Ogris et al., 2004; Pöltl et al., 2003).

Product Notes

The GABRB1 gabrb1 (Catalog #AAA500056) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GABAA Receptor beta1 reacts with Bovine, Canine, Chicken, Human, Non-Human primate Xenopus, Zebra fish Predicted: Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GABAA Receptor beta1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GABRB1 gabrb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GABAA Receptor beta1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
