Related Product Information for anti-GABRB1 antibody
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing a hyperpolarization of the membrane through the opening of a Cl- channel associated with the GABA-A receptor subtype. GABA-A receptors are important therapeutic targets for a range of sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic agents and are implicated in several diseases including epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. The GABA-A receptor is a multimeric subunit complex. To date six alpha, four beta, and four gamma subunits, plus alternative splicing variants of some of these subunits, have been identified. Chloride conductance of these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the GABA-A receptor.

NCBI Description

The gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor is a multisubunit chloride channel that mediates the fastest inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. This gene encodes GABA A receptor, beta 1 subunit. It is mapped to chromosome 4p12 in a cluster comprised of genes encoding alpha 4, alpha 2 and gamma 1 subunits of the GABA A receptor. Alteration of this gene is implicated in the pathogenetics of schizophrenia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GABRB1: GABA, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate brain, mediates neuronal inhibition by binding to the GABA/benzodiazepine receptor and opening an integral chloride channel. Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor (TC 1.A.9.5) subfamily. GABRB1 sub-subfamily.

Product Notes

The GABRB1 gabrb1 (Catalog #AAA6011564) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GABA Receptor A, alpha1 (Gamma-aminobutyric Acid Receptor Type An alpha 1 Subunit, GABRA1, ECA4, EJM) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GABA Receptor A, alpha1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:5000 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 10ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GABRB1 gabrb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GABA Receptor A, alpha1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
