Related Product Information for anti-FABP6  antibody
Gastrotropin, also known as Fatty acid-binding protein 6, Ileal lipid-binding protein, ILBP, Intestinal 15 kDa protein, Intestinal bile acid-binding protein, I-BABP and FABP6, is a cytoplasm protein which belongs to the calycin superfamily and Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. Isoform 2 of FABP6 is expressed in colorectal adenocarcinomas and their adjacent normal mucosa (at protein level). Isoform 1 of FABP6 is expressed in the jejunum, ileum, cecum and ascending colon intestine. Isoform 2 is expressed in the gallbladder, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, ascending, transverse and descending colon, sigmoid colon and rectum. FABP6/I-BABP is a cancer-related protein that acts as an intracellular transporter of bile acid in the ileal epithelium. FABP6/I-BABP may also play an important role in early carcinogenesis.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the ileal fatty acid binding protein. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABP6 and FABP1 (the liver fatty acid binding protein) are also able to bind bile acids. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. Transcript variants generated by alternate transcription promoters and/or alternate splicing have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

FABP6: Ileal protein which stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion. Seems to be able to bind to bile salts and bilirubins. Isoform 2 is essential for the survival of colon cancer cells to bile acid-induced apoptosis. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative promoter.

Protein type: Lipid-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q33.3-q34

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol

Molecular Function: lipid binding

Biological Process: bile acid and bile salt transport; negative regulation of cell proliferation; triacylglycerol catabolic process

Product Notes

The FABP6  fabp6 (Catalog #AAA2544379) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti Human FABP6  Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's FABP6  can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 0.1-0.2 mug/mL. This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 mug/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human FABP6/ILBP/I-BABP. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FABP6  fabp6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FABP6 , Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
