Related Product Information for anti-DOC2A antibody
Doc2-alpha is mainly expressed in brain and is suggested to be involved in Ca(2+)-dependent neurotransmitter release. It may also be involved in dynein-dependent intracellular vesicle transport. The cDNA predicts a 400-amino acid protein with relative mass of 44,071 Da and 2 repeated C2-like domains in the C-terminal region. The C2 domain 1 is involved in binding calcium and phospholipids. It is predominantly expressed in the brain but also expressed in testis.

NCBI Description

There are at least two protein isoforms of the Double C2 protein, namely alpha (DOC2A) and beta (DOC2B), which contain two C2-like domains. DOC2A and DOC2B are encoded by different genes; these genes are at times confused with the unrelated DAB2 gene which was initially named DOC-2. DOC2A is mainly expressed in brain and is suggested to be involved in Ca(2+)-dependent neurotransmitter release. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

Uniprot Description

DOC2A: Calcium sensor which most probably regulates fusion of vesicles with membranes. Binds calcium and phospholipids. May be involved in calcium dependent neurotransmitter release through the interaction with UNC13A. May be involved in calcium-dependent spontaneous release of neurotransmitter in absence of action potentials in neuronal cells. Regulates Ca(2+)-dependent secretory lysosome exocytosis in mast cells.

Protein type: Vesicle; Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p11.2

Cellular Component: neuron projection; synaptic vesicle membrane; lysosome; cell junction

Molecular Function: protein binding; calcium-dependent phospholipid binding; transporter activity

Biological Process: synaptic transmission; nervous system development; synaptic vesicle exocytosis; regulation of calcium ion-dependent exocytosis

Product Notes

The DOC2A doc2a (Catalog #AAA6009807) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DOC2A (Double C2-like Domain-containing Protein alpha, Doc2, Doc2-alpha) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DOC2A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in ELISA. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DOC2A doc2a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MRGRRGDRMT INIQEHMAIN VCPGPIRPIR QISDYFPRGP GPEGGGGSGG EAPAHLVPLA LAPPAALLGA TTPEDGAEVD SYDSDDATAL GTLEFDLLYD RASCTLHCSI LRAKGLKPMD FNGLADPYVK LHLLPGACKA NKLKTKTQRN TLNPVWNEDL TYSGITDDDI THKVLRIAVC DEDKLSHNEF IGEIRVPLRR LKPSQKKHFN ICLERQVPLA SPSSMSAALR GISCYLKELE QAEQGQGLLE ERGRI. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DOC2A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
