Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to MMP-23. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated polyclonal antibody preparation specific for MMP-23 and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain MMP-23, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of MMP-23 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family of extracellular matrix-degrading enzymes that are involved in tissue remodeling, wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis and tumor invasion. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal cysteine array and a novel immunoglobulin-fold domain at the C-terminus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms that may undergo similar processing. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Uniprot Description

MMP23B: Protease. May regulate the surface expression of some potassium channels by retaining them in the endoplasmic reticulum. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Protease; EC 3.4.24.-

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum; extracellular matrix; integral to membrane; membrane

Molecular Function: hydrolase activity; metal ion binding; metalloendopeptidase activity; metallopeptidase activity; peptidase activity; zinc ion binding

Biological Process: proteolysis

Product Notes

The Mouse Mmp23 mmp23 (Catalog #AAA288398) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA288398 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse Mmp23. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Matrix metalloproteinase-23, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
