Related Product Information for anti-CORO1A antibody
Human Coronin 1A is a 51,026 dalton protein (461 amino acids) expressed intrcellularly in macrophages and other cell types of the immune system. In the CNS, coronin 1A is expressed exclusively by microglial cells. Although its function is not entirely clear, there are reasons to believe that coronin serves as a linkage protein between the actin cytoskeleton and the plasma membrane, and perhaps the extracellular matrix.

The protein is found exclusively in hematopoetic lineage cells such as lymphocytes, macrophages and neutrophils. Coronin1a is therefore an excellent marker of cells of this lineage and can also be used to study the leading edges particularly of neutrophils. Since the only hematopoetic cells found within the central nervous system are microglia, this antibody is also an excellent marker of this important cell type*. Microglia are numerically fairly minor components of the nervous system, but microglial activation is seen in response to a wide variety of damage and disease states, including ALS, Alzheimer's disease and responses to brain tumors. Since coronin 1a is a constitutive component of microglia, the coronin 1a antibody can be used to study both quiescent and activated microglia.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the WD repeat protein family. WD repeats are minimally conserved regions of approximately 40 amino acids typically bracketed by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD), which may facilitate formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes. Members of this family are involved in a variety of cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, signal transduction, apoptosis, and gene regulation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been defined on chromosome 16. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Uniprot Description

coronin 1A: May be a crucial component of the cytoskeleton of highly motile cells, functioning both in the invagination of large pieces of plasma membrane, as well as in forming protrusions of the plasma membrane involved in cell locomotion. In mycobacteria- infected cells, its retention on the phagosomal membrane prevents fusion between phagosomes and lysosomes. Belongs to the WD repeat coronin family.

Product Notes

The CORO1A coro1a (Catalog #AAA555376) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Coronin 1A, Affinity Purified Antibody, Chicken reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Coronin 1A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CORO1A coro1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Coronin 1A, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
