Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for RGN elisa kit
Description: This Human Regucalcin (RGN) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate RGN in samples. An antibody specific for RGN has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any RGN present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for RGN is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of RGN bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Regucalcinis a highly conserved, calcium-binding protein, that is preferentially expressed in the liver and kidney. It may have an important role in calcium homeostasis. Studies in rat indicate that this protein may also play a role in aging, as it shows age-associated down-regulation. This gene is part of a gene cluster on chromosome Xp11.3-Xp11.23. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants having different 5' UTRs, but encoding the same protein. Regucalcin is a proposed name for a calcium-binding protein that was discovered in 1978.Regucalcin differs from calmodulin and other Ca2+-related proteins as it does not contain an EF-hand motif of Ca2+-binding domain. It may regulate the effect of Ca2+ on liver cell functions.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a highly conserved, calcium-binding protein, that is preferentially expressed in the liver and kidney. It may have an important role in calcium homeostasis. Studies in rat indicate that this protein may also play a role in aging, as it shows age-associated down-regulation. This gene is part of a gene cluster on chromosome Xp11.3-Xp11.23. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]

Uniprot Description

RGN: Gluconolactonase with low activity towards other sugar lactones, including gulonolactone and galactonolactone. Can also hydrolyze diisopropyl phosphorofluoridate and phenylacetate (in vitro). Calcium-binding protein. Modulates Ca(2+) signaling, and Ca(2+)-dependent cellular processes and enzyme activities. Belongs to the SMP-30/CGR1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.1.1.17

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp11.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: zinc ion binding; gluconolactonase activity; calcium ion binding; enzyme regulator activity

Biological Process: cellular calcium ion homeostasis; L-ascorbic acid biosynthetic process; positive regulation of ATPase activity; regulation of calcium-mediated signaling

Product Notes

The Human RGN rgn (Catalog #AAA9714467) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9714467 ELISA Kit recognizes Human RGN. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Regucalcin (RGN), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
