Related Product Information for THPO active protein
Thrombopoietin, also known as megakaryocyte growth and development factor (MGDF), is a member of EPO/TPO family. It is produced in the liver by both parenchymal cells and sinusoidal endothelial cells, as well as in the kidney by proximal convoluted tubule cells. It acts as a key regulator of megakaryocytopoiesis and thrombopoiesis that leads to platelet production. Also, this protein is the ligand for MLP/C_MPL, the product of myeloproliferative leukemia virus oncogene. Thrombopoietin, like EPO, plays a role in brain development. It promotes apoptosis of newly generated neurons, an effect counteracted by EPO and neurotrophins. Recombinant human Thrombopoietin fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in HEK293 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Uniprot Description

THPO: Lineage-specific cytokine affecting the proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes from their committed progenitor cells. It acts at a late stage of megakaryocyte development. It may be the major physiological regulator of circulating platelets. Defects in THPO are the cause of thrombocythemia type 1 (THCYT1). A myeloproliferative disorder characterized by elevated platelet levels due to sustained proliferation of megakaryocytes, and frequently lead to thrombotic and haemorrhagic complications. Belongs to the EPO/TPO family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell cycle regulation; Secreted; Cytokine; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q27

Product Notes

The THPO thpo (Catalog #AAA201283) is an Active Protein produced from HEK293 and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 22-353aa. AAA Biotech's Thrombopoietin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE, Bioactivity. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the THPO thpo for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: SPA PP ACDLRVLSKL LRDSHVLHSR LSQCPEVHPL PTPVLLPAVD FSLGEWKTQM EETKAQDILG AVTLLLEGVM AARGQLGPTC LSSLLGQLSG QVRLLLGALQ SLLGTQLPPQ GRTTAHKDPN AIFLSFQHLL RGKVRFLMLV GGSTLCVRRA PPTTAVPSRT SLVLTLNELP NRTSGLLETN FTASARTTGS GLLKWQQGFR AKIPGLLNQT SRSLDQIPGY LNRIHELLNG TRGLFPGPSR RTLGAPDISS GTSDTGSLPP NLQPGYSPSP THPPTGQYTL FPLPPTLPTP VVQLHPLLPD PSAPTPTPTS PLLNTSYTHS QNLSQEG. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Thrombopoietin, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
