Related Product Information for FGF-2 recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant Rat FGF-2/FGF basic/bFGF Protein is produced by E. coli expression system. The target protein is expressed with sequence (Ala11-Ser154) of rat FGF-2/FGF basic/bFGF (Accession #P13109).

Background: FGF-basic is a members of the Fibroblast Growth Factors (FGFs) family. The family constitutes a large family ofproteins involved in many aspects of development including cell proliferation, growth, and differentiation. They act on several cell types to regulate diverse physiologic functions including angiogenesis, cell growth, pattern formation, embryonic development, metabolic regulation, cell migration, neurotrophic effects, andtissue repair. FGF-basic is a non-glycosylated heparin binding growth factor that is expressed in the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland liver, monocytes, epithelial cells and endothelial cells. FGF-basic signals through FGFR 1b, 1c, 2c, 3c and 4.

NCBI Description

activates the MAP kinase signaling pathway; plays a role in synaptic transmission; induces cell proliferation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

FGF2: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and cell migration. Functions as potent mitogen in vitro. Monomer. Homodimer. Interacts with FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Affinity between fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors is increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans that function as coreceptors. Interacts with CSPG4, FGFBP1 and TEC. Found in a complex with FGFBP1, FGF1 and FGF2. Expressed in granulosa and cumulus cells. Expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, but not in non- cancerous liver tissue. Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative initiation.

The amino acid sequence is listed below: ALPEDGGGAF PPGHFKDPKR LYCKNGGFFL RIHPDGRVDG VREKSDPHVK LQLQAEERGV VSIKGVCANR YLAMKEDGRL LASKCVTEEC FFFERLESNN YNTYRSRKYS SWYVALKRTG QYKLGSKTGP GQKAILFLPM SAKS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FGF-2/FGF Basic/bFGF, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
