Usage Notes
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Rat bFGF protein using the buffer we provided not less than 100 ug/mL, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Rat bFGF protein product should be stored desiccated below -20 degree C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Background: Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), also known as FGF2, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF basic modulates such normal processes as angiogenesis, wound healing and tissue repair, embryonic development and differentiation, neuronal function and neural degeneration. Transgenic over-expression of FGF basic results in excessive proliferation and angiogenesis reminiscent of a variety of pathological conditions.

NCBI Description

activates the MAP kinase signaling pathway; plays a role in synaptic transmission; induces cell proliferation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

FGF2: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and cell migration. Functions as potent mitogen in vitro. Monomer. Homodimer. Interacts with FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4. Affinity between fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors is increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans that function as coreceptors. Interacts with CSPG4, FGFBP1 and TEC. Found in a complex with FGFBP1, FGF1 and FGF2. Expressed in granulosa and cumulus cells. Expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, but not in non- cancerous liver tissue. Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative initiation.

Product Notes

The bFGF fgf2 (Catalog #AAA9719062) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 145aa. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Ala11-Ser1 54. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "bFGF, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
