Related Product Information for STK21 recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant human STK21 (CIT) (1-449) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: STK21 is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that functions in cell division and also to promote efficient cytokinesis. STK21 is a novel molecular mechanism for a subset of human malformation syndromes of the central nervous system (1). STK21 is also associated with bipolar disorder and risk for schizophrenia. STK21 is a novel partner for the GTP-bound forms of rho and rac (2).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a serine/threonine-protein kinase that functions in cell division. Together with the kinesin KIF14, this protein localizes to the central spindle and midbody, and functions to promote efficient cytokinesis. This protein is involved in central nervous system development. Polymorphisms in this gene are associated with bipolar disorder and risk for schizophrenia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

CRIK: an AGC kinase that is a RHO/RAC effector. Binds to the GTP-bound forms of RHO and RAC1. Required for postnatal hippocampal neurogenesis. Rho/CRIK suppresses differentiation and is associated with induction of KyoT1/2, a LIM domain protein gene implicated in integrin-mediated processes and Notch signaling. Plays an important role in the regulation of cytokinesis and the development of the central nervous system. Overexpressed in mantle-cell lymphoma (MCL), an aggressive type of B-cell lymphoma. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The STK21 cit (Catalog #AAA515484) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-449. AAA Biotech's STK21 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the STK21 cit for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "STK21, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
