NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme that is a member of the prostaglandin G/H synthase family. The encoded protein converts arachidonic acid to prostaglandin endoperoxide H2 which is a key enzymatic step in prostaglandin biosynthesis. This gene is the inducible prostaglandin G/H synthase family member that is upregulated during inflammation. Aberrant regulation of this gene is associated with cancer progression in several tissues and an increased risk of cardiovascular events. This gene is the target of many non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

COX-2: Mediates the formation of prostaglandins from arachidonate. May have a role as a major mediator of inflammation and/or a role for prostanoid signaling in activity-dependent plasticity. Homodimer. Belongs to the prostaglandin G/H synthase family.

Product Notes

The Mouse Ptgs2 ptgs2 (Catalog #AAA9425990) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9425990 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse Ptgs2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
