Related Product Information for Tfrc protein
Transferrin is a single polypeptide chain glycoprotein and is a member of the iron binding family of proteins. It has a molecular weight of 79.5kD and a serum concentration range of 1800-2700mg/L. It is synthesized in the liver and consists of two domains each having a high affinity reversible binding site for Fe3+. The iron is transported in blood and interstitial fluids to sites of use and disposal. Iron/transferrin is essential in hemoglobin synthesis and for certain types of cell division. Serum concentration rises in iron deficiency and pregnancy and falls in iron overload, infection and inflammatory conditions.

NCBI Description

receptor for transferrin; involved in regulating stellate cell activation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

TfR: the transferrin receptor. Regulates the cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied receptors into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release. The apotransferrin-receptor complex is then recycled to the cell surface with a return to neutral pH and the concomitant loss of affinity of apotransferrin for its receptor. Transferrin receptor is necessary for development of erythrocytes and the nervous system.

Product Notes

The Tfrc tfrc (Catalog #AAA635033) is a Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Transferrin, Rat can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in Immunochemical reactions, as a control or standard in assays, conjugation, and most Immunological methods that requires highly purified proteins. Other applications not tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Tfrc tfrc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transferrin, Rat, Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
