Related Product Information for anti-VRK3 antibody
The vaccinia-related kinase (VRK) proteins are a new group of Ser/Thr kinases in the human kinome. This mammalian kinase family comprises three members, VRK1, VRK2, and VRK3 (1-3). The VRK1 has autophosphorylation activity and phosphorylates several transcription factors, including p53 (4), ATF2 (5), and c-Jun (6). VRK2 is associated with the endoplasmic reticulum (7). VRK3 suppresses ERK activity through direct interaction and activation of the MAP kinase phosphatase VHR (8). Further functional and structural analysis of VRK proteins will elucidate important new aspects of cell regulation.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the vaccinia-related kinase (VRK) family of serine/threonine protein kinases. In both human and mouse, this gene has substitutions at several residues within the ATP binding motifs that in other kinases have been shown to be required for catalysis. In vitro assays indicate the protein lacks phosphorylation activity. The protein, however, likely retains its substrate binding capability. This gene is widely expressed in human tissues and its protein localizes to the nucleus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcripts encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

VRK3: Inactive kinase that suppresses ERK activity by promoting phosphatase activity of DUSP3 which specifically dephosphorylates and inactivates ERK in the nucleus. Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. CK1 Ser/Thr protein kinase family. VRK subfamily. 2 human isoforms produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Protein kinase, CK1; Kinase, protein; EC 2.7.11.1; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); CK1 group; VRK family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein serine/threonine kinase activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of phosphoprotein phosphatase activity; regulation of cell shape; peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; Wnt receptor signaling pathway; endocytosis

Product Notes

The VRK3 vrk3 (Catalog #AAA620008) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Vaccinia Related Kinase 3 (VRK3) reacts with Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Vaccinia Related Kinase 3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VRK3 vrk3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vaccinia Related Kinase 3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
