CA8 Human protein (1mg/ml) is formulated in 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH8.0) containing 20% glycerol, 1mM DTT.
Store, frozen at -20 degree C for longer periods of time.
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
CA8 Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 314 amino acids (1-290) and having a molecular mass of 35.5kDa.
CA8 Humanis fused to a 24 amino acid His-Tag at N-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

The protein encoded by this gene was initially named CA-related protein because of sequence similarity to other known carbonic anhydrase genes. However, the gene product lacks carbonic anhydrase activity (i.e., the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide). The gene product continues to carry a carbonic anhydrase designation based on clear sequence identity to other members of the carbonic anhydrase gene family. The absence of CA8 gene transcription in the cerebellum of the lurcher mutant in mice with a neurologic defect suggests an important role for this acatalytic form. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

CA8: Does not have a carbonic anhydrase catalytic activity. Defects in CA8 are the cause of cerebellar ataxia mental retardation and dysequilibrium syndrome type 3 (CMARQ3). CMARQ3 is a congenital cerebellar ataxia associated with dysarthia, quadrupedal gait and mild mental retardation. Belongs to the alpha-carbonic anhydrase family.
