Intended Uses: This immunoassay kit allows for the in vitro quantitative determination of mouse Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 concentrations in serum, Plasma, tissue homogenates and Cell culture supernates and Other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated polyclonal antibody preparation specific for Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

Uniprot Description

TIMP2: Complexes with metalloproteinases (such as collagenases) and irreversibly inactivates them by binding to their catalytic zinc cofactor. Known to act on MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-8, MMP-9, MMP-10, MMP-13, MMP-14, MMP-15, MMP-16 and MMP-19. Interacts (via the C-terminal) with MMP2 (via the C- terminal PEX domain); the interaction inhibits the MMP2 activity. Down-regulated by TGFB1. Belongs to the protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) family.

Product Notes

The Mouse Timp2 timp2 (Catalog #AAA2882480) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2882480 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse Timp2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Metalloproteinase inhibitor 2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
