Principle of the Assay||This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti-Resistin antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti-Resistin antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and wash with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Resistin amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of Resistincan be calculated.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the family defined by the mouse resistin-like genes. The characteristic feature of this family is the C-terminal stretch of 10 cys residues with identical spacing. The mouse homolog of this protein is secreted by adipocytes, and may be the hormone potentially linking obesity to type II diabetes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

resistin: Hormone that seems to suppress insulin ability to stimulate glucose uptake into adipose cells. Potentially links obesity to diabetes. Belongs to the resistin/FIZZ family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; nucleus

Molecular Function: hormone activity

Biological Process: aging; fat cell differentiation; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; positive regulation of synaptic transmission; response to insulin stimulus; response to mechanical stimulus

Disease: Diabetes Mellitus, Noninsulin-dependent

Product Notes

The Rat RETN retn (Catalog #AAA761946) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA761946 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat RETN. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Resistin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
