SCD; SCD1; FADS5; SCDOS; MSTP008
Reactivity
Rat
Synonyms
SCD; Rat SCD (Stearoyl Coenzyme A Desaturase) ELISA Kit; SCD elisa kit
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Reactivity
Rat
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Rat SCD. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Rat SCD and analogues was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross- reactivity detection between Rat SCD and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.

Related Product Information for SCD elisa kit
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of SCD in Rat serum, plasma and other biological fluids
Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Rat SCD. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Rat SCD and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Rat SCD, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Rat SCD. You can calculate the concentration of Rat SCD in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme involved in fatty acid biosynthesis, primarily the synthesis of oleic acid. Transcripts of approximately 3.9 and 5.2 kb, differing only by alternative polyadenlyation signals, have been detected. A gene encoding a similar enzyme is located on chromosome 4 and a pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 17. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

Uniprot Description

SCD: Terminal component of the liver microsomal stearyl-CoA desaturase system, that utilizes O(2) and electrons from reduced cytochrome b5 to catalyze the insertion of a double bond into a spectrum of fatty acyl-CoA substrates including palmitoyl-CoA and stearoyl-CoA. Belongs to the fatty acid desaturase family.

Protein type: Lipid Metabolism - unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis; EC 1.14.19.1; Membrane protein, integral; Oxidoreductase; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Endoplasmic reticulum

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q24.31

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; membrane; endoplasmic reticulum; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: iron ion binding; stearoyl-CoA 9-desaturase activity

Biological Process: fatty acid biosynthetic process

Product Notes

The Rat SCD scd (Catalog #AAA2514232) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2514232 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat SCD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCD, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
