Related Product Information for TS/TYMS elisa kit
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Rabbit TS/TYMS concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to TS/TYMS. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for TS/TYMS and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain TS/TYMS, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of TS/TYMS. You can calculate the concentration of TS/TYMS in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

Thymidylate synthase catalyzes the methylation of deoxyuridylate to deoxythymidylate using 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate (methylene-THF) as a cofactor. This function maintains the dTMP (thymidine-5-prime monophosphate) pool critical for DNA replication and repair. The enzyme has been of interest as a target for cancer chemotherapeutic agents. It is considered to be the primary site of action for 5-fluorouracil, 5-fluoro-2-prime-deoxyuridine, and some folate analogs. Expression of this gene and that of a naturally occuring antisense transcript rTSalpha (GeneID:55556) vary inversely when cell-growth progresses from late-log to plateau phase. Uniprot Description

TYMS: an enzyme in the thymidylate synthase family. Polymorphisms serve as prognostic markers for determining modality of treatment in certain cancers. Genotyping helps predict toxicity to 5-FU-based chemotherapy in patients with colorectal cancer and the response to platinum-based chemotherapy in advanced NSCLC. A common polymorphism is a determinant of red blood cell folate and homocysteine concentrations. Homodimer.

Product Notes

The Rabbit TS/TYMS tyms (Catalog #AAA2504437) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2504437 ELISA Kit recognizes Rabbit TS/TYMS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TS/TYMS, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
