Background: The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family of proteins are characterized by a highly conserved Toll homology (TH) domain, which is essential for Toll-induced signal transduction. TLR1, as well as the other TLR family members, are type I transmembrane receptors that characteristically contain an extracellular domain consisting of several leucine-rich regions along with a single cytoplasmic Toll/IL-1R-like domain. TLR2 and TLR4 are activated in response to lipopolysacchride (LPS) stimulation, which results in the activation and translocation of NFkB and smuggests that these receptors are involved in mediating inflammatory responses. TLR6 is highly homologous to TLR1, and like other members of TLR family, it induces NFkB signaling upon activation. Expression of TLR receptors is highest in peripheral blood leukocytes, macrophages, and monocytes.

Uniprot Description

TLR5: Participates in the innate immune response to microbial agents. Mediates detection of bacterial flagellins. Acts via MYD88 and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response. Genetic variation in TLR5 is associated with resistance to systemic lupus erythematosus type 1 (SLEB1). Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease with a complex genetic basis. SLE is an inflammatory, and often febrile multisystemic disorder of connective tissue characterized principally by involvement of the skin, joints, kidneys, and serosal membranes. It is thought to represent a failure of the regulatory mechanisms of the autoimmune system. Belongs to the Toll-like receptor family.

Product Notes

The TLR5 tlr5 (Catalog #AAA840951) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TLR5 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TLR5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting (0.5-4 ug/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Other applications have not been determined. The antibody recognizes ~97 kDa TLR5 in sample from human, mouse and rat origins. Reactivity to other species has not been tested. Blocking peptide is available separately. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TLR5 tlr5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TLR5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
